What devices and browsers does KenwoodScribe support?
On computers, KenwoodScribe records in Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. On iPhone and iPad it records in Safari, and Android phones are supported too. These browsers provide the built-in speech recognition used for live transcription. You can also paste a transcript manually into any browser to generate notes.
How does Smart SOAP Extraction work?
When you check "multi-pet transcript" and enter a patient name, KenwoodScribe sends the full transcript to the AI with instructions to identify and extract only that patient's exam. The result is scoped precisely to that animal, even if the transcript spans hours and multiple patients. Patients you don't choose are saved as drafts, so you can generate for them later if you decide you need to. You can also highlight the relevant section first to focus the extraction and reduce cost.
How do I get access for my practice?
KenwoodScribe is licensed on a flexible basis — either per clinic or per individual user, depending on what works best for your practice. Contact us to discuss the right setup, and we'll issue your license key and apply your free trial credit. You can be generating notes the same day.
What does the free trial include?
Every new license comes with $5 in credit — full access to all features, no limitations. With regular use (not every appointment requires a generated note), $5 covers approximately two weeks of real-world use for a single doctor. No credit card required to start. You only add funds when you're ready to continue.
What are my three generation options?
Each time you generate, you pick one of three buttons. Generate SOAP gives you a full exam note plus a concise summary and a detailed email summary for the client, from $0.10. Summary Only skips the exam note and gives you just the concise summary and detailed email, from $0.05. Phone Summary gives you a concise chart note for a call plus a detailed email to the client, from $0.05. All three draw from the same recording, so you decide at the moment of generation which you need.
Can I take notes from phone calls?
Yes. Record the call, then choose Phone Summary when you generate. You get a concise chart note ready to paste into the medical record and a detailed email summary addressed to the client, from $0.05 per generation.
How do I record on my iPhone and move it to a workstation?
Open KenwoodScribe in Safari on your iPhone and record. Pair the phone with a workstation once by scanning a QR code, then tap Send on any session. For each send you choose what goes: the transcript, or just the exam note, summaries or phone summary. The phone keeps its own copy, so you can send it again to another workstation.
Does sending a session cost anything?
No. Transfers are free. You pay only when you generate notes, at the same per-generation prices whether you recorded on a phone or a workstation.
Can I send to any workstation?
Yes. One phone can pair with any number of workstations, and a workstation can pair with any number of phones. Sessions are encrypted on the phone so only the workstation you choose can read them. They wait on the server unreadable until that workstation collects them, then they are deleted. Anything never collected is deleted after 30 days.
Does recording continue when my iPhone screen locks?
In a Safari tab, yes. Recording keeps going when the screen locks. Don't use a home-screen icon for recording, because recording stops when the screen locks in that mode. On iPhone, record in Safari rather than Chrome or another browser.
Can I use a wireless microphone instead of a phone?
Yes. If you prefer a single workstation and don't want to bring a phone into the exams, a DJI Mic Mini is a good option: a clip-on wireless mic with a 500-foot range. Plug the receiver into that workstation, clip on the mic, and record straight to it. The mic connects to one workstation. To record in one place and send to others, use the iPhone.
How long are sessions stored?
Sessions are saved to your browser's local storage and remain accessible for 42 days. You can record on Tuesday and come back the following week to generate or review a note, as long as you're on the same browser and computer. Sessions are not kept on a server. The only exception is a session you send from a phone, which waits encrypted and unreadable until your workstation collects it, then is deleted.
Is the audio stored anywhere?
No. KenwoodScribe uses your browser's built-in Web Speech API, which processes audio locally on your device. Audio is never recorded, stored, or transmitted. Only the text transcript is sent to the AI for note generation.
How does pricing work for long transcripts?
The base price covers transcripts up to ~1,000 words. For longer transcripts, a small surcharge of $0.03 per additional 1,000 words applies. For practices that record all day, we strongly recommend the highlight-to-extract feature — select just the section covering the patient you need, and you'll only be charged for the highlighted text.
Can it handle households with multiple pets?
Yes. Record the entire multi-pet visit in one session, then generate separate notes for each patient by entering each pet's name one at a time. Each note saves to your session history independently and can be reviewed or regenerated anytime within 42 days.
